History is unfolding, and most Americans are not even aware of what lurks in the shadows.
President-elect Donald Trump has named Steve Bannon as his Chief Strategist (Dwyer). In case you missed it, Bannon has been instrumental not only in Trump’s late campaign surge to victory, but also in operating Breitbart, the far-right wing propaganda machine (Woodruf and Resnick). It may not appear so irregular to tap a successful political party figure for an administrative role. However, what you may not know is that Breitbart has moved so far right that they have morphed into an outlet for promoting and defending the alt-right movement (Pigot; Posner). The euphemism of the alt-right movement belies its intent – they are white nationalists wearing suits and ties (King).
That’s right, Trump just named Bannon as chief strategist, a person rooted in an organization that has been defending white nationalism.
Hell is empty, and the devils are here.
